The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting for a regular full-time Lateral/Certified Patrol Deputy
(Enforcement/Patrol) to patrol roads, highways, and business areas in the enforcement of traffic and criminal laws. General duties are outlined on the attached position description. Varied 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts may include days, nights, rotating, on-call, holidays, and weekends.
The successful candidate will be dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to interact with coworkers and the public in a courteous, professional manner. The position requires the exercise of initiative, independent judgement, and discretion insofar as incumbent applies standards and procedures to routine situations. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a highly desirable skill and preference will be given to qualified applicants possessing this skill.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have at least eighteen (18) months experience as a uniformed police officer and possess an active Basic Police certification from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, and/or any equivalent out-of-state law enforcement accreditation recognized by DPSST. Applicants must possess an unrestricted, state issued, driver’s license with the ability to obtain an Oregon driver license; a good driving record; and a satisfactory work record and personal history (e.g., free of criminal convictions, although special circumstances may be considered). All candidates must be able to pass a thorough background screening as well as pre-hire medical and psychological screenings.
Salary: $3998 -$5573/month anticipated at hire, depending on experience and position of hire. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, health savings, paid leaves, paid holidays, PERS, and deferred compensation options.
