JOB TITLE: Cardiovascular Technologist RT(R) (ARRT)
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Cardiovascular Technologist is responsible for all aspects of diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization lab; demonstrating the ability to function in all of the three positions (scrub, x-ray, and monitor). The Cardiovascular Technologist demonstrates a knowledge base and skill set necessary to provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patients served and variety of procedures performed. They must also demonstrate the ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment, which includes working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes. The Cardiovascular Technologist maintains and operates the physiological systems, assists physicians during the procedures, and performs unit-based activities in the Cath Lab. They are also responsible for adhering to State code requirements in upholding radiation safety for all staff, patients, & Physicians in the Cath Lab. The Cardiovascular Technologist participates in continuous performance improvement activities, displays excellent verbal and written skills, and maintains the ability and willingness to establish and sustain clinical competencies as required and assigned for the Cath Lab. They are also required to be willing to educate, train, and precept new hires and float staff into the Cath Lab. In providing optimal quality outcomes according to hospital policy and its mission, the Cardiovascular Technologist is responsible for giving safe patient care, and maintaining a positive working relationship with staff and other departments.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Cardiac Cath Lab Director
REQUIREMENTS: 1.) ARRT/TDH 2.) One year Cath Lab experience 3.) Three-five years EP experience 4.) Certified in BCLS and ACLS
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire.
New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
RECOMMENDED: 1.) RCIS
OSHA TASK CATEGORY ONE: There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
