12 Horse Grooms Needed
TBD Training Facilities, LLC located in Grand Prairie, Texas, Phone 817-664-1110 or fax at 214-988-6810 seeks 12 Horse Grooms needed for temporary, full-time employment to attend to the overall care of thoroughbred race horses including feeding, watering, maintenance of stalls and rack, cleaning, brushing, trimming of horses, disinfecting stalls and bedding, administration of meds as directed, inspection of horse’s physical condition. Will lift legs and clean horse’s feet and apply liniments and bandages to legs as required. Will care for 1 to 5 horses at a time. Work will be performed at Canterbury Park located at 1100 Canterbury Access Road, Shakopee, MN 55379. Workers will be paid no less than $11.85 per hour. Work hours will vary between 5:00a.m. and 5:00p.m each day of the week. Overtime hours may vary, depending on weather or other conditions, and will be paid at $17.78 per hour.
The employer will use a single work week as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid on Friday of each week by check. The employer will make all deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law. If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment.
The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $89.00 p/day during travel to a maximum of $89.00 p/day with receipts. Workers are responsible for daily transportation to and from the job site. Workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees). The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
