Job Snapshot:
SBDD is seeking a full-time field technician and equipment operator with the ability to assist in the maintenance and repair of the District's drainage facilities, buildings, and equipment; and provide assistance to the Director of Operations as requested.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years working in outdoor, field-related services
- Background and experience in the general operation of equipment, tools and small machinery
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Florida drivers license
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations & guidelines
- Ability to drive and operate equipment to complete projects.
- Ability to physically endure work schedule, lift & carry tools, work in changing work environments, & squat, bend & stretch for short intervals.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Available to work overnight , holidays, and weekends if emergency conditions require such.
The following qualifications will be a plus in the District's evaluation of candidates:
- Building construction and building maintenance experience
- Electrical knowledge & experience
- Plumbing knowledge & experience
- Stormwater pump knowledge & experience
- Small engine knowledge & experience/Experience with smaller water craft, including small outboard motors.
- Knowledge and experience in drainage-related work & landscape maintenance work
- Diving experience and certification
- Welding knowledge & experience
- CPR certificate
Job Responsibilities:
- The SBDD Field Technician will be expected to perform the following job duties:
- Assist in the day-to-day maintenance of the District's facilities including: drainage canals; buildings; easement areas, etc.
- Operate equipment; and drive District equipment, vehicles and boats.
- Operate small tools.
- Perform routine maintenance on all District buildings and structures.
- Assist the District's Chief Mechanic
- Assist in the trimming and cutting of landscaping
- Maintain a clean & safe work area at all times.
- Follow OSHA regulations for safety and operations.
