Strategic Sourcing Manager will negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the company.
Essential Functions
- Negotiates with vendors on goods and services, price, quality and service
- Establishes purchasing policies and ensures compliance for 3 manufacturing locations
- Continually examines vendor performance and develops new supply sources
- Examines bids and makes awards.
- Issues blanket POs as necessary to ensure product is available at all times.
- Review purchase price variances, raw material outages, and department metrics
- Manages purchase requires for approval and account numbers, and authority levels
- Approves invoices for payment
- Utilizes accounting reports such as P&L to develop control charts
- Experience with chemical industry ERP system; Chempax
- Works closely with receiving department to ensure proper supplies arrived
- Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders.
- Follows environmental and safety regulations (U.S. Laws)
- Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
- Complies with GMP Practices and Requirements
- Manage all raw material purchases for 3 manufacturing facilities
- Responsible for a total spend -$4M
- Responsible for selection of inventoried and non-inventoried suppliers
- Negotiate pricing and payment terms with raw material and service suppliers
- Perform supplier audits on a rotating basis to ensure ISO compliance
- Certified to ISO 9001 Standards for audit purposes
- Familiar with root cause analysis procedures/processes/techniques
- Experience performing supplier risk assessment and supplier site audits
- Perform RFQs, to ensure the best combination of price, quality, and availability for both raw materials and packaging related components
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related area
- MBA preferred
- 6 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or science related industry
- 2-4 years of quality experience in a manufacturing or science related industry
- APICS CPIM Certification preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
