Emergency Management
A part-time Deputy Emergency Manager position is available in the Emergency Management Department. Performs difficult administrative work. Assists the Emergency Management Director in coordinating and training volunteer groups. Draft, maintain, and prepare various documents; respond to emergency incidents, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Emergency Management Director.
Duties of the position
Assists in the overall management and administration of the county-wide Emergency Management Program. Assists in applying for reimbursement and financial assistance; a variety of media awareness and preparedness materials; coordinates training/education for various agencies, volunteer groups and the general public; responds to disasters and incidents; provides resources needed for response and recovery; maintaining inventory/utilization of County Emergency Management equipment; attends community meetings; required to be available 24/7 to respond to emergencies. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and considerable experience Emergency Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Valid driver’s license in the State of Minnesota; State of Minnesota Basic Emergency Management certification within two (2) years.; State of Minnesota Certified Director Emergency Manager within two (2) years; Ability to maintain certification through continuing education; National Incident Management (NIMS) training within one (1) year; Radio Train the Trainer training within one (1) year.; Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or higher.
Starting wage is $26.51 per hour; part time working less than 30 hours per week, unless needed in emergency situation.
