Staff Attorney Position

The Kansas Association of School Boards is accepting applications for an experienced staff attorney to represent school boards in employment, student discipline, and special education cases, along with developing and delivering school law seminar presentations and writing policy and legal publications. This position requires the ability to travel frequently throughout Kansas, attend evening school board meetings and provide a variety of other legal services to local boards of education.

Two years experience in private practice, municipal or school law or other comparable legal experience preferred. The ideal candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, be licensed to practice law in Kansas and be able to travel throughout Kansas and attend evening meetings. The ability to multi-task, work efficiently in an environment with frequent interruptions and prioritize time to respond to member legal requests in a timely manner is essential.  Applicants need not live in Topeka.

Salary is commensurate with public sector and private sector experience.

The position will remain open until filled by a qualified candidate.
