MASTER IN PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT STUDIES PROGRAM

Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is a national leader in integrating community- based medical education and clinical care. The College of Medicine is an academic and clinical affiliate of Baptist Health, South Florida’s largest not-for-profit health system.

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for non-tenure teaching faculty position, within the Master in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) Program. The primary responsibilities include teaching, evaluating, and advising didactic and clinical physician assistant students. The selected candidate will teach clinical courses within the program’s curriculum, including courses within Clinical Medicine I, II, and III; Clinical Skills; The Role of the PA; and Integration to Clinical Concepts. The selected candidate will also serve as a Capstone Mentor and will participate and provide educational and assessment support in Clinical Skills Lab I and II, Clinical Assessment I and II, and Scholarly Research Project. The faculty member will develop and deliver course lectures, learning objectives, and learning outcome assessments in accordance with the ARC-PA standards and aligned with the NCCPA Blueprint and will also assist in the program’s curriculum evaluation and development processes; all accreditation activities; and the admission, success, remediation, and retention of physician assistant students. This position may provide clinical care at FIU College of Medicine clinical sites or at a clinical site in the community.

Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree in medical sciences (MD or DO); or a Physician Assistant certification from an ARC-PA accredited PA program and current NCCPA certification.

Preferred qualifications include at least three (3) years of relevant clinical experience working in the clinical setting; prior experience in academia and/or other teaching; active and unrestricted Florida PA license or medical license (or be eligible to obtain a Florida Physician Assistant license or medical license in the state of Florida); Master’s degree; strong communication skills; and a professional demeanor.
