Registry Patient Access Rep
Patient Access Representatives acts as the first point of contact within the Scheduling Department and therefore must represent Emory Healthcare with the highest standard of customer service, compassion, and performance of duties in a manner that is consistent with our mission, values, and standards of conduct.
Patient Access Representatives answer inbound calls in a high volume call center environment where scheduling functions are facilitated for all Emory Healthcare facilities. This may include scheduling, rescheduling, registration, benefit verification, and pre-certification. The representative is responsible for ensuring that the most accurate patient demographics and insurance information is entered into the patient’s record. This team member must have exceptional attention to detail and maintain knowledge of department processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
• High School Graduate or equivalent. Some college preferred.
• Minimum 1-5 years of experience within a healthcare environment.
• Ability to work in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, excellent telephone etiquette is required.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with physicians, clinical, and non-clinical staff.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multi-tasker.
• Ability to work under stress and perform all daily assignments with a high-level of accuracy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Must have at least 2 years healthcare related or customer service experience. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial payers (HMO, PPO) preferred. CHAA (Certified Patient Access Associate) CPAR (Certified Patient Account Representative) and/or CFC (Certified Financial Counselor) preferred. Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's degree may be accepted in lieu of certification requirements or experience. Typing skills with a minimum of 35 wpm and good communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
