FIELD SERVICE I - STREET DEPARTMENT
$15.00 per hour

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Operates the street sweeper for 20 hours per week, up to 1,000 hours per year, and any other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill the Mission, and abide by the Organizational Values. The work schedule is flexible, but the work will be scheduled between Monday and Friday during the day.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Must be physically able to operate a variety of power tools and equipment. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires the ability to maintain body equilibrium when bending, stooping, couching, climbing, reaching and/or stretching arms, legs or other parts of the body, and to physically maneuver over and/or upon varying terrain, surfaces or physical structures. Must have minimal levels of eye, hand and foot coordination. Requires the ability to lift more than 50 pounds. Position requires color, texture and depth perception as well as the ability to see, hear, speak, smell and taste. Must be able to work in varying conditions, surroundings and all-weather conditions. At times may have to work in adverse environmental and hazardous conditions to include mechanical, electrical, fume odor, dust/mist, chemicals and other solid waste substances.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of the mechanical operations of both light and heavy equipment and vehicles; common tools, materials and methods used in maintenance and construction work. Mechanical skill required in operation of equipment. Ability to operate equipment carefully and safely; follow oral and written directions, make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment and vehicles; ability to work as a member of a team.

Regular attendance is essential. Incumbent must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assign duties and work assigned schedule. Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or others.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION:

High School diploma or equivalent; Texas Commercial Drivers License Class B minimum with Air Brake endorsements; previous experience with required mechanical aptitude and ability; familiarity with maintenance techniques. Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks.

The City of Benbrook is mandated by federal law to provide drug-free working environment for the safety of its employees and the public.
