Under the general direction of the Senior Center Director, the principal function of the Senior Citizens Center Coordinator is to assist the Senior Center Director in the day to day coordination, operation, and implementation of the Senior Center programs, and to direct programming and operations in the Senior Center Director’s absence. 

Essential Functions:

  • Helps coordinate special events targeted for seniors. 
  • Maintains and keeps inventory of supplies for the Senior Center and replacing supplies as needed. 
  • Assists in planning day trips for seniors and assist with trip transportation as approved by City. 
  • Coordinates services with community agencies and resources. 
  • Assists in developing fundraisers (garage sales/health fair/craft fair).
  • Assists in maintaining and publishing schedule of all activities and other materials including calendars, letters, posters, news releases, fliers, and related communications regarding senior adult programming. 
  • Acts as an advocate for senior citizens by providing information, referrals, resources and assistance on benefits and services available to them in the community.
  • Completes other projects and functions as assigned by the Senior Center Director. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Ability to understand computer functions (Microsoft Office). Must have the ability to manage cash and other funds for the Senior Citizen Center and keep accurate records. General knowledge of City policies and procedures. General knowledge of Senior Center Board of Directors policies and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with seniors, departmental staff, sponsors, and the general public. 

Special Requirements: Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug screening and possess valid Class C Driver’s license with good driving record.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification: High School diploma or equivalent; one year’s experience working with senior citizens preferred.

Work Hours:

20 hours/ week max during regular Senior Citizen Center hours.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM

Tuesdays and Thursdays - 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM

Schedule Flexibility available.

Salary: $14.00/hour (No benefits)
