School Crossing Guard PART TIME POSITION 12.50 Hours per Week $16.00 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY: Assists children and parents in safely crossing streets on the way to and from school in the morning and afternoon. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Holds stop sign, stopping motorists so children and parents may cross streets. • Warns children not to cross until the proper time. • Guides children and parents across the street. • Maintains positive relationships with students, parents and school staff; models appropriate adult behavior. • Report reckless drivers to police department.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS • Ability to stand and walk for extended amount of time. • Ability to elevate and hold stop sign. • Ability to identify and use appropriate traffic warning signals. • Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. • Employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures while on duty.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE: • Ability and desire to provide outstanding customer service. • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance. • Must be a team player and get along well with others. • Must have excellent communication skills. • Must demonstrate flexibility, common sense, and good judgment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: • Must have a valid Texas driver's license. • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Federal law mandates the city of benbrook to provide a drug-free working environment for the safety of its employees and the public. The city will require each applicant seriously being considered for employment to produce a urine sample to be tested for the presence of certain drugs. A refusal to produce the sample, any attempt to tamper with the sample, or the positive indication of the presence of drugs will result in an automatic disqualification from employment.
