Public Works Inspector
CITY OF BENBROOK Public Works Inspector Salary Range: $62,523 to $83,787 annually.

Under general supervision of the City Engineer, the purpose of this position is to inspect construction projects for compliance with specifications, standards, materials, and methods that meet or exceed City specifications during the construction of City infrastructure including streets and storm water utilities and keeps the public safe during construction.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Job duties consist of inspections of construction sites, reviewing construction plans, determining compliance with ordinances, completing follow-up inspections when necessary, testing pavement construction, checking for appropriate elevations and construction locations, preparing detailed documentation of construction progress and inspection, and completing final inspections of completed construction sites. Other duties may include providing information to contractors and citizens, maintaining construction files, reviewing construction plans, providing administrative support, generating reports, interfacing with other City employees and citizens, and related work as required and/or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Knowledge of City ordinances, policies, and procedures; knowledge of construction inspection techniques and procedures; knowledge of construction materials and supply specifications and standards; knowledge of civil construction methods, practices, and procedures; knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware, and software; skill in effective oral and written communications; skill in inspecting reviewing, evaluating, and modifying construction plans; skill in enforcing applicable Federal, State, and City construction codes and ordinances; skill in mediating differences among contractors, developers, and inspectors; and skill in resolving public complaints and concerns.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION
High School diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in related field or two (2) years’ experience in construction and/or inspection of construction projects; Texas Class C driver license.
Salary Range: $62,523 to $83,787 Annually
