PART TIME MECHANIC’S HELPER
$15.00 Hour
No Benefits
20 Hours per week
SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION
Under close supervision, assists the Fleet Service Supervisor in cleaning, servicing and maintaining automotive equipment, vehicles and machinery. Performs other tasks as needed.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
May make minor purchases as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Changes tires; performs routine maintenance; cleans engines and parts; cleans and maintains the Fleet Maintenance area; drives equipment from departments to the maintenance area for servicing and maintenance; moves equipment around maintenance site; drives vehicle to pick up automotive parts and supplies. Performs other duties as directed.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites. Employee will work in seasonal temperatures bending, kneeling, twisting and climbing in order to repair and transport vehicles and equipment. Employee may work with potential mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards. Heavy lifting may be required.

Employee will be required to communicate in writing and orally with other employees in the work group and outside vendors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Skill in the use and care of hand and machine tools used in the automotive shop is needed. Knowledge of routine maintenance tasks such as changing oil, lubricating chassis and changing tires a plus.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION
High School diploma or GED, Texas Class "C" Driver's License, prior experience in fleet maintenance and tire replacement and repair a plus but not required.
